The LGBTQ+ community has always shown up for one another. As queer spaces reopened after lockdown, we wanted to celebrate that energy, inviting the community to show up, share, and support the places that hold us. Shot entirely on Pixel across five cities, Pride in Belonging captured real communities through real connections. Anchored by a custom version of Savoir Adoreโ€™s Bloom, the campaign became part of Googleโ€™s global Pride initiative and went on to win a Bronze Effie and Silver Richmond Ad Show.

Role: Creative/Art Director // UI Storytelling, Campaign Identity, Motion Design, Video Direction, Photography Direction, Production

Every UI moment in the campaign reflected an action the community could take in real life. Each interaction (leaving a review, sharing a photo, adding a map pin) became a way to amplify the queer spaces we hold dear and invite others to show up for them as well.

Collaborating with LGBTQ+ photographers Cindy Elizabeth, James Hosking, and Meghan Marin, brought authenticity and intimacy to the work, strengthening the campaignโ€™s emotional core. Every image was captured on Google Pixel, an exciting challenge that unfolded live. I directed alongside our photographers in person and through Google Photos as the shots came in. Working with real communities and real relationships allowed us to shape each story genuinely, capturing their love, friendship, and sense of belonging.

The campaign lived across social and a dedicated microsite connecting people with queer-owned businesses worldwide. Some digital elements were later quietly archived as social and political climates shifted under the Trump administration, emphasizing how meaningful and ahead-of-its-time this work was.
